Chicalim Sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav was felicitated by Goa Minister Mauvin Godinho after being honoured with the Best Sarpanch award for contribution towards rural development. The felicitation was held at the minister's office in New Vaddem.
Minister's Statement
Addressing reporters, Mauvin Godinho said the Chicalim Panchayat has earned several accolades over the years and this latest recognition marked its seventh award. He expressed pride that the achievement came from his constituency and urged other panchayats to take inspiration from Chicalim's development and welfare record.
He said a large population resides in village and panchayat areas, and maintaining cleanliness along with implementing proper development works could help more panchayats gain similar recognition.
Sarpanch Statement
Kamla Prasad Yadav thanked the Panchayat Minister for the felicitation and said the honour reflected collective village effort under guidance and support from the state leadership.
"Under the guidance and support of Mauvin Godinho, the Chicalim Panchayat has now secured its seventh award. Every recognition belongs to gram sabha, staff, and citizens who participate honestly."
Office Reforms and Citizen Service
Yadav informed that renovation work of the panchayat building is currently in progress. The office was among the first panchayat buildings in Goa noted for lift access at the time of its construction. Initiatives introduced to improve professionalism and public interaction include:
- Uniforms and nameplates for workers
- Receptionist desk with May I Help You board
- More citizen-friendly office environment for certificates and grievance guidance
