Union Minister of State for Rural Development Dr Pemmasani Chandrasekhar visited the Wealth Out of Waste (WOOW) plant at Chicalim on 7 June 2025 and praised the integrated decentralised waste management model. Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho accompanied the delegation.
The Minister noted it was the first time he had witnessed such a comprehensive model converting waste into multiple outputs including biogas, electricity and treated water - encouraged by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant’s suggestion to visit.
The visit reinforced Chicalim’s reputation after winning first place in Best Environmental Practices on World Environment Day 2025 under Sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav.
