Dabolim has been selected as South Goa’s Model Solar Power Energy Village under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana and will receive ₹1 crore in Central assistance for community-based solar energy projects.
GEDA assessed seven South Goa villages between November 2025 and February 2026 on awareness, enrolment and implementation. Dabolim emerged on top with about 30 kVA solar capacity under the scheme.
Panchayat Leadership
The achievement is attributed to the panchayat under Sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav, who encouraged residents to adopt solar energy, with members and citizens spreading awareness of renewable benefits.
How the Funds Will Help
Assistance is expected for community-oriented solar facilities including panchayat buildings, community halls and other public infrastructure - positioning Dabolim as a model for sustainable development in Goa.
